What is Ovarian Cancer?

At Halina’s Hope, we believe it’s not the death sentence many women feel it is. While ovarian cancer is often treated as a chronic condition, our approach of hope and compassion through support builds strength to fight and live your fullest lives. Ovarian cancer develops in the ovaries or fallopian tubes and has no effective screening or early detection testing.

What are some of the ovarian cancer signs?

Many women don’t have any signs before it’s too late, and they’ve already moved into later stages of ovarian cancer, but there can still be early signs to be aware of.

The most common ones are:

  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Bloating
  • Trouble eating or feeling full fast
  • A constant urge to have to urinate or to go often.

Some of the other symptoms to look for that may occur with those above:

  • Fatigue
  • Upset Stomach
  • Pain during sex
  • Changes in your menstrual cycle, i.e., heavier or irregular bleeding.

Halina’s Hope can help if you feel like you may be at risk or have some of these symptoms, we have resources to guide you and help you get the care you need to know for sure. The more we work together, the stronger our community of women is.

What are ovarian cancer treatment options?

In many cases, the options for many women are surgery to remove the cancer tissue. In others, chemotherapy may be the only treatment option.

At Halina’s Hope, we believe in another kind of treatment. Working together to treat the heart and mind. The more support we have as women with ovarian cancer, the more we can feel strengthened by hope, compassion, and knowledge.

This is why Halina’s Hope was founded. Halina, our founder, is currently in the trenches with you in her own battle with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. Halina’s Hope for all of us is to help women, families, and communities be stronger while battling this killer disease. By equipping us all with the support we need, we can get through this together. No one needs to fight for their lives alone.

Halina’s Hope offers many support services for women battling ovarian cancer, including help with an ovarian cancer test and many different support groups.
